Class Information
3rd, 4th, & 5th graders identified as GT in mathematics have their needs met by both the classroom teacher and the gifted and talented teacher.
3rd grade students will receive daily accelerated curriculum with intellectual peers in a math class. This curriculum will be at a faster pace and will allow opportunities for problem solving and critical thinking. Students are also grouped according to specific needs according to skill level for targeted instruction during math IE.
4th grade students will receive differentiated instruction with their classroom teacher. Enrichment will be offered during the IE class with the gifted and talented teacher.
5th grade students work directly with the gifted and talented teacher. They receive receive daily advanced, accelerated (one grade level above) instruction with intellectual peers in pull-out math class. This curriculum will be at a faster pace and include opportunities for problem solving and critical thinking. Students are also grouped according to specific needs according to skill level for targeted instruction during math IE.
Math Olympiad
4th & 5th graders participate in the Math Olympiad contest once a month November through March. Students must be present on the day of the contest as there is no make-up date. Those Tuesdays for the 2015-2016 school year are:
Olympiad 1: Nov 17
Olympiad 2: Dec 15
Olympiad 3: Jan 12
Olympiad 4: Feb 9
Olympiad 5: Mar 8
